Trek Kanchenjunga north base camp trek goes up to Pangpema (5100m), the northern BC, from Ghansa onward there are no valleys and later joins the classical route from Ghansa during the return. Kanchaenjunga(8586m) is Located in the eastern border of Nepal is the third highest peak on earth. The name Kangchenjunga is derived from Sanskrit Kanchanaganga: Kanchana means gold and ganga is the river which flows in the region. The river shines like gold and hence the name Kanchana Ganga was given to this mountain. Its name in Nepali is Kanchanjaŋghā. Its name in the local Limbu language is Sewalungma, meaning "mountain that we offer greetings to Sewalungma” is considered sacred by adherents of the Kirant religion. Cohabited with other ethnic groups like Sherpa, Brahmin and Chhettri, Rai and Limbus, collectively called Kirant, are the indigenous inhabitants of the region. They have unique culture and customs. Traditional handicraft, carpet weaving, wood turning are widely practiced for their livelihood. Apart from this, it has astonishing natural beauty and ecological variety bless this protected area, home to exotic  species of rare flora and fauna including the elusive snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan black bear, musk deer and exotic species of birds. Kanchanjunga trekking is the combination of many things such as Kirant culture, stunning glimpse of snow peaks and view of romantic landscape so trekking to Kanchanjunga is considered one of the best trekking routes in the world.

Kanchanjanga trekking is quite long in contrast to other trekking routes but one thing is sure you will never fill weary and exhaust during the trekking because of many attractive things which Kanchanjangha offers

 Optional Drohmo peak (6012m) climbing is an easy and rocky dome. The peak does not require any technical knowledge however the climb is through the moraine and rugged trail and over the icy trail for 15-20 minutes before to reach the summit. So crampons and ice axe can be essential for the security matters. No major mountaineering equipment is required. You are surrounded by the summits with a fantastic view of Kanchenjunga (8686m) and its glacier, Twins peak (7350m), KiratChuli (7362m), Jhingsang La (6165m), the Jhingsang glacier and other more Himalayan range towards the Tibet and Nepal border. After indulging and taking pictures we descend towards the Lhonak,

Bhadrapur is located in the Terai region at the eastern end of Nepal, near the India border. Afterward, scenic transfer through the hilly road to Ilam covering about 80 km by jeep, Ilam, a picturesque town in eastern Nepal, is renowned for its lush tea gardens and gently sloping hills. The journey offers beautiful views of the Kanchenjunga massif, especially when passing through a high mountain pass upstream of Ilam, a prominent area for tea leaf production.

After breakfast in Ilam at the guesthouse, our journey continues through the Mechi Highway, passing through the cooler hills of Ilam and the Panchthar District headquarters to reach Phidim. We then drive a few more hours to Ganesh Chwok, a road junction for Taplejung and Khewang. From here, we travel on rough, hilly dirt tracks to Hapu Khola. The drive can be quite bumpy in some sections, but the scenic farmland and local villages make it interesting. We finally reach Khewang, where the road ends. This part of the journey can be quite tiring, so we stop here.

Our journey begins with a slow ascent to reach a ridge at 2,070 m. The trail continues to Ekchana Bhanjyang and then uphill to Ghatichinne Bhanjyang, between Mamakhe and Sherpa Gaon. Due to road construction, the itinerary may change in the coming years, as walking on dusty gravel with vehicles is unpleasant.
The trek continues through farm fields and cardamom plantations, a major income source in Ilam and Taplejung. After a few hours, we reach Sherpa Gaon where we enjoy Sherpa culture and warm hospitality along with great views of the surrounding scenery.

After breakfast, our journey starts with a steep climb through the dense, humid forest to the top of Deurali Danda (3000m). The trail then winds uphill through steep sections, entering dense forests of rhododendron and pine. After a few hours of continuous walking, we reach an open area with a large meadow for domestic cattle. Here, Jhoreni is located, a small settlement with simple huts that serve as houses and lodges for travelers.

The morning walk leads us again towards Jhoreni Bhanjyang (3600m), crossing a beautiful forest primarily composed of rhododendrons. The trail then descends to Simbua Khola, where some sections have been damaged by frequent landslides from monsoon rains and snowfall. Walk with care around these areas, moving slowly and cautiously to avoid falls and drops.
The trail re-enters the cool shade of the forest as it descends towards Simbua Khola. After following the riverbank for an hour, we cross a bridge to reach our overnight stop at Torongden. This is a lovely open area with a meadow, amidst enchanting woodland, where the small settlement of Torongden is situated with a few small lodges.

Today, we followed the trail towards our first destination, the Kanchenjunga South Base Camp. The trek leads to the Lower Lalung Valley, covered in dense forests of rhododendron and pine. The walk continues towards the northeast, reaching a river fed by the Yarlung Glacier.

The path offers a pleasant, scenic trail overlooking splendid views of towering snow-capped peaks. We reached the terminal moraine of the Yarlung Glacier and enjoyed majestic views of Talung Peak (7,349m), Kabru range and Rathong Peak (6,678m). After taking in the stunning scenery, we gradually completed the day by reaching Tseram. This lovely place features grassy meadows with some open terraces. We spent the night in a simple hut serving as a lodge for tourists.

After an early breakfast, we set out with our packed lunch to explore the Kanchenjunga South Base Camp, a dramatic arctic terrain of icy moraine and the Yalung Glacier, offering magnificent views of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,420m), Mt. Kanchenjunga West (8,586m), and Mt. Kanchenjunga Central (8,474m), particularly Jannu (Kumbhakarna). After delighting in the views of Mt. Jannu and the Kanchenjunga massif, with its series of peaks, we retraced our steps back to Tseram.

Initially descending into the valley passing through the small village of Lapsang, and heading towards the Mirgin La Pass, we continue to Selele (4200m) to spend the night. On the horizon, the magnificent views include Makalu, Everest, Gyakung Kang, Lhotse, and Chamalang. Looking south, it's possible to see the Terai, a panoramic view that rewards all our efforts.

Heading towards LambasumbaKharka and crossing some passes, we get to see beautiful views of the southwest face of Mt. Jannu (Kumbhakarna). From LumbasumbaKharka, an easy and enjoyable walk through descending forests takes us to Ghunsa. Ghunsa is a Tibetan village with a small monastery (Gompa) and prayer flags fluttering on wooden houses. It's an excellent opportunity to observe the local people and their culture.

From Ghunsa we start our journey towards Khambachen. We glimpse the Jannu Glacier later we get a view of Jannu (7710m). We start descending from mountainside to our camp at Khambachen. Since we are being climbing so much we deserve some rest for aday or two. For that purpose we take a rest day to collect our thoughts on how wonderful everything has been so far.

Today is a rest day, allowing us to acclimatize to the higher altitude. We will take an excursion to the Kumbhakarna Glacier, ascending as high as possible. The glacier, nestled in the majestic Himalayas, offers stunning views of towering peaks of Jannu (7711m) Himal (Kumbhakarna), Sobi Thongje (6670m), Yalung Khang West (8077m), Khambachen peak (7802m). As we make our way up, we will have the opportunity to witness the raw beauty of the glacier, with its crevasses and seracs and experience the grandeur of the Himalayan glaciers. After exploring and enjoying the breathtaking scenery, we will return to our base for the night.

We trek in highland and pastureland by following the trail along the edge of the Kanchanjunga glacier and also crossing the Lhonak glacier. Finally we arrive at our campsite. From campsite we could have excellent views of towering peak of Kanchanjunga, Mera peak (6476m) and others peaks as well.

A long, steep descent towards GhunsaKhola and then we will be trekking alongside the Tamur River and GhunsaKhola. In the afternoon, we will take a jeep or truck that will transfer us to Taplejung (60km) in 3-4 hours, following a rocky and graveled track along the confluence of two rivers, GhunsaKhola and SimbuaKhola. SimbuaKhola originates from the South Base Camp of Kanchenjunga. We will appreciate the magnificent view of these two rivers merging into TamurKoshi. The track continues along Tamur to the village of Mitlung and then along the ridge to the Taplejung.
