    This trek is popular trekking trail of Bhutan, it best option for average walkers and gives you an opportunity to visit the isolated valleys of Gangtey Gompa/Phobjikha, Gogona and Kothoka. Gangtey Gogona trek leaves the valley of Gangtey at 2,830 meters and leads south, then west through the meadows and fields. Gangtey Gogona trail passes through a mixed forest of juniper, bamboo, rhododendron, magnolia, rhododendrons, miniature azaleas and cypress. Gangtey Gompa trail is rough, rocky and weaves through trees where pack animals have created deep muddy furrows.. Culturally and religiously rich Bhutan remained entirely disconnected from the rest of the world until 1960s.

    Upon arrival in Paro, clear customs and immigration. Keep your copy of the visa clearance letter handy. P.P size pictures are no longer required and your visa has been paid. Meet your Guide and driver outside the terminal building and transfer to Thimphu.
    Welcome Dinner and briefing overnight at hotel

    Thimphu (2,300m) was a wooded farming valley until 1961, when it became Bhutan's official national capital. The massive Tashicho Dzong, about 700 years old, was carefully revamped in the 1960s by the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk to house the royal and main government offices. Even today, it still only has a few streets and no traffic lights with estimated population of 90,000 people.

    Morning drive to Gantey via Simtokha Dzong, Dochula pass and Richengang village. In Gantey
    visit the Gantey Gompa monastery. (Village Lodge) 3000m.

    Morning explore around and watch the rare back-necked crane (seasonal) and after breakfast and begins trekking to Gogona Village. The trail passes through forests of juniper, dwarf bamboo, magnolia and rhododendrons. Evening free to explore around. Distance covered: 15 kms/ in 6hrs. Camp alt. 3400m.

    Today we climb a pass and descend downhill through the changing vegetation to the wide and temperate valley of Khotokha, the summer home for nomads of Wangdi region. Distance: 16 kms in 6/7 hrs. Camp salt. 2800 m.

    Short trek from your campsite brings you to the village of Tashila, from here a rope way operates to the road head near Wangdi.You can choose to take the lift or walk downhill for 3 hours. Much of the vegetation on today's trek is a sub-tropical and moist. Transfer to the hotel and in the afternoon visit Punakha & Wangdi-phodrang. (Hotel Dragon Nest)
