The Great circuit ofTAMANG HERITAGE TRAIL with combining Langtang and Tserko Ri (4984m) and Helambu valley via Gosaikund

Tamang heritage and Langtang Tserko Ri trek is a great opportunity to experience the rich Tamang culture and high mountain scenery of the Langang valley and the sacred lakes of Gosaikund.

THE TAMANG HERITAGE trail is situated at north – west of Kathmandu. The trek can be organized as a combine Langtang valley trek and accommodation will be home stay and lodge.

The valley offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primrose. It is a moderate circuit. The people are Buddhists and there main occupation is agriculture and trade with Tibet. We can notice the influence of Tibet. The Tamang women wear beautiful ornament of precious stones and their colourful dress, which reminds us the Tibet. In the month of april and march the forest is reddish with the  Rhododendron flower which is also the national flower of Nepal. With the majestic view of   Langtang  and Ganesh Himalayan range. The valley is also paradise for the wild animal like leopards, red panda’s and musk deer.

The trek goes upto Langtang valley and attempting to Tserko Ri (4984m) and on the way back reaching the holy lake of "Gosainkunda", Gosainkunda pass (4610m), requires a quick elevation of altitudes offering varied natural landscapes, flora and fauna. You can test the local Yak cheese.

After break fast at your hotel you head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep gorges. Syabrubesi is a riverside village at the confluence of the Bhote Khosi and Langtang Khola, get way to Langtang valley and to Ganesh Himal region

After break fast we start steep climb about 2 hours through the terraced hillside to the top of the Chaurhattar (2271m). From here you can see scenery view of the Himalayan rang of the Ganesh Himala and Langtang Lirung. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking a memorable one. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang.

Your trek begins through a descent about 500m to Chilime Khola. On the way you enjoy stunning view of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. Your will cross a suspension bridge over  Chilime Khola then gentle climb towards Tatopani . Tatopani is natural hot where you can take hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. It is believed that taking a dip into this spring would heal you from your aches and pains. This day's trekking provides you an opportunity to experience of the Tamang culture.

Your trek starts by gentle climb through the rhododendrons and pine forest where you can encounter animals like red pandas, monkeys and deers. The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen ranges can be distinctly experienced from Nagthali. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. Another cultural village Thuman is popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. Beautiful view of the mountains can be seen from every house in Thuman.

Your trek begins through a descent about 500m to Bhote Koshi. The vegetation is getting again sup tropical mixed beautiful forest to Thuman. You can experience village life of Briddim. Moreover you can enjoy cultural show performed by community members. You can also experience of home stay and Tamang culture. To mention about Briddim is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of split shake. As direct descendant of ancient Tibetan immigrants, the culture and tradition of Briddim closely resembles that of nearly Tibetan villages.

Today our treks through hilly mountain trail, likely narrow than the other days, through the open forest and terraced field gentle climb but easy walking, The lunch stop will be at Khangjim village. Again we continue our trek to Sherpa Gaon which takes about 3 hours. You have splendid view of high Himalayan range. Sherpa village is one of the Sherpa ethnic settlements in the Langtang region.

After breakfast the trail descends through the Rhododendron forests and stunning view of Langtang Himal and Gosaikund valley until reaching Lamahotel which takes about 3 hours.
Our trek continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung.

Passing the prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We trek across the beautiful Tibetan village of Langtang, we move to the Kyanjing. On the way yak pasturage can be observed. Kyanjing Gompa is known as one of the first Yak Cheese produce in Nepal.

Early morning, after break fast proceed to climb with packed lunch to Tserko Ri  (4984m) for magnificent views of the different mountains. At the first about 30 minutes walk in the level then the trail continues steep ascending with viewing the panoramic snow capped mountains. After a while enjoying on the top then we proceed down hill to Kenjin.

Today, we trace to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way down hill through forest following the river.

We keep walking through the forests trail until reaching Pairo Thapela which takes about 3 hours. You have lunch break here. After lunch you climb up steep trail until reaching Thulosyabru which takes about 2 hours. Now you have great view of mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal and other peaks. Thulosyabru is one of the important village Tamang settlements in this area.

Today, your trek again climbs up hill above the village and passes through the terraced and stone staircase.  Further more the trail climb steeply through forests of hemlock and oak, past the ancient-looking Chhorten and then less steeply through Rhododendron forest and pastures land to the top of the ridge to Cholang pati. You have the majestic view of the Ganesh Himal range, Himchuli peak (7993m) at Manaslu range, Langtang Himal range….

Your journey starts by ascending through the ridge of Laurebinayak. In the cleared weather you have the panoramic view of Langtang Lirung, Ganeh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna Himal in the morning. You are gaining the altitude through a rocky trail passing the holy lakes. Gosaikund lakes are holy site for a great pilgrimage in August each year.

Today your trek starts early in the morning through rocky trail with gentle climb until reaching  Gosaikunda pass 4610m. via crossing 3 other lakes then you climb down slowly in the rough steep terrain until reaching Phedi then continue a long and gentle descent and ascent in lap of the mountain untill Gopte.

The trail goes along the lap of the mountain through the rhododendron forest with numerous ups and downs across ravines and the boulders of old moraines and then makes a final ascent to Tharepati. From where you have a stunning view of high Himalayas.  Your lunch stop probably will be in Tharepati. After Tharepati, the trail steeply down hill to Melamchigaon  through zigzag trail with Rhododendron forests until reaching Sherpa village in Melamchi gaon.

After breakfast, you trek starts by descending passing the Stupa and Chhortens until Melamchi Khola Then you cross by suspension bridge and continue passing and the trail ascends through the forests until reaching Tarkegyang village. Tarkeghyang village is inhabited by Sherpa Ethnic. The houses are well decorated by paintings, traditional carpets, and by the copper utensils. A one splendid monastery can be visited.  You trek continue again up and down trail passing the Mani wall and Stupa through the Rhododendron and Pine forests until reaching Sermanthang village.

This is the last day of the trek; the trail down hill through the plate road and zigzag trail through cohabited by Sherpa, Tamang, Brahmin, Chhetri village. You continue your trek descending in the dusty way till passing the scatter village until Melamchi Pul Bazaar then transfer to Kathmandu
