The Upper Mustang trek is the last Himalayan hidden Kingdom of Mustang.
The amazing medieval wall city of Lo-Manthang is one of the most attractive sites of the Mustang trek. Mustang, traditionally a separate kingdom later annexed to Nepal, lies beyond the Himalayan range. It offers a unique combination of stunning desertic landscapes and Buddhist culture close to Tibetans. This is a moderate to adventurous trek with a maximum altitude of 4200m which remained entirely closed to visitors until 1991. The Nepal government decided to open this forbidden Kingdom for limited tourism in 1992.
