The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the many picturesque hikes that one can take within the  Annapurna region in Nepal, offering trekkers an off-the-beaten-path experience with stunning views of the Himalayan ranges, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural encounters. Lying in the south of one of the most popular trekking destinations Annapurna Base Camp. This trek is ideal for those seeking tranquility away from the more crowded trails, immersing themselves in nature and local traditions. Moreover, this is one of the finest and most suitable treks for beginners who want to discover the amazing Annapurna region.

The trek starts from the pretty town of Pokhara leading adventures through dense forests of rhododendrons past traditional Gurung and Magar villages to reach high alpine terrains near the base of Mardi Himal and the iconic Machapuchare (Fishtail) Mountain. In the course of the journey, the multiple panoramic Annapurna massif views that include a few peaks, such as Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, or Machapuchare, are covered. The highest elevation point of the hike is going to be at Mardi Himal Base Camp—4,500 meters, providing a close-up view of the majestic Himalayas.

Mardi Trek Difficulty

The trek is moderately challenging, given that there are very significant altitude gains—from 900  m at Pokhara up to 4,500  m at Mardi Himal Base Camp—and many days will need continuous walking, normally around 6–7 h per day. One should be in good physical condition, well acclimatized, and have a positive attitude toward such moderately challenging treks.

Best Season for the Mardi Himal Trek

The best seasons are Spring and Autumn. At this time, the weather is mostly stable with crystal clear blue skies and therefore maintains moderate temperatures perfect for treks. Rhododendron flowers in full bloom make the forests lively during spring and crisp air with the best overall mountain clarity during autumn.

Outstanding views, Especially of Mt. Macchapucchhre.

This trek has the best view of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), which you will get close to and undisturbed, together with Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi itself. And to be very honest: from several key points—the Australian Base Camp, High Camp, and especially the Mardi Himal Base Camp—the panoramic views of those snow-clad peaks and deep valleys are going to create unforgettable photographic moments.

Food offered during the trek

Meals are based on local, fresh, hygienic, and tasty foods reflecting local culture, prepared with love and care during your trek on the Mardi Himal Trail. Expect freshly cooked meals that range from a full course of dal-bhat to seasonal vegetable curries, served in teahouses. Most packages have three meals, with the menus offering a range of choices in different local specialties to match your taste.

Cost of Mardi Himal Trek

Normally the cost is between $800 and $1,400 depending on group size, accommodation types, transportation, and other extra services like porter support, domestic flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara and vice versa, and extra stays. ( You can choose from "Add on and options" while booking ) Packages include permits, accommodations, and meals during the trek, and transfers, though excluding an international flight and visas.
